This romantically named hotel is rather special. It is in Tsangarada, just to one side of the famous main square and church. The building dates from c.1890. It was actually the first hotel in Pelion, and opened as such in 1952. After many months of painstaking restoration it reopened in 1997. With much of the furniture antique, a richly decorated restaurant, a games room and a library, Lost Unicorn Hotel has something of the feel of an English country hotel - quite unique in such a remote part of Greece.

Owned and personally run by Clare and Christos Martzos, the hotel has only 8 rooms on the upper two floors. All have modern shower rooms, tea-making facilities, a fridge, room-safe, flat-screen TV and a small balcony (the two top floor rooms have air-conditioning and share a massive roof-terrace). Most are double-bedded and well furnished in a classic style. At this altitude and with such thick stone walls AC is not necessary on lower floor rooms.

Outside there is a delightful terrace where you may take breakfast (full English), an evening meal (the hotel has an upmarket restaurant at weekends) or simply relax with a drink.

The hotel also operates a daytime cafe in the square, shaded by the famous plane tree (open weekends except July and August daily). A car is included because, although Tsangarada has plenty of good local tavernas, this is an idyllic base from which to explore the Pelion. The nearest beach is much-photographed Milopotamos, a 10 minute drive down the mountain, and Agios Ioannis can be reached in 15-20 minutes.

Rep service: please note that due to the distances from our main resort areas our Pelion representative will not be visiting this hotel. However he/she will meet you on arrival at Volos airport and give you any information at that point. Our representative can always be contacted by telephone if required.
