In a lush green valley surrounded by heavily vegetated volcanic hillsides are twelve wooden clad self catering units and one traditional house, set in a shallow water basin and created to blend in with the surrounding environment. Each air-conditioned unit has fresh, contemporary, Scandinavian style furnishings using light woods and green, grey and white colours that provide accommodation with all the homely comforts.
Only a short walk (10 minutes / 150m) from the beautiful lake at Furnas, this is an ideal location for walkers and nature lovers with endless possibilities.

Special cooking Experience
Preparation of ‘Cozido’: ‘Cozido’ is a typical dish cooked for about 4-5 hours in the heat of the volcano, near the Lake of Furnas. The dish is made up of different types of meat, spiced sausage and vegetables.
Preparation of ‘Caldeirada’: ‘Caldeirada’ is a typical dish cooked for about 4-5 hours in the heat of the volcano, near the Lake of Furnas. The dish is made up of fish, potatoes, tomatoes, olives and onions.
Preparation of ‘Feijoada’: ‘Feijoada’ is made up of beans, spiced sausage, tomatoes and onions and ‘Vegetarian Feijoada’ is composed by beans, carrots, tomatoes, onions, parsley, cabbage, kale and pepper.
Guests will prepare one of these dishes at the property and then go by car to Furnas Lake to place the pot in a specially dug hole for about 4-5 hours where it will cook from the heat naturally produced by volcanic underground vapours. Once cooked, you will return to the lake to collect your pot. The dish will be served up for either lunch or dinner. This activity depends on the day and time that the guest prefers (bookings required in advance). Minimum of 2 persons required.

The owner, Manuel Gago de Câmara has been riding horses since he was a young boy and has a passion to share his love of horses. Book a ride and trek through the beautiful enchanting trees and trails.

Oak Studios - Four studios (sleeps 2)
The studios (40 sqm) are open-plan and with air-conditioning/heating, double or twin beds, bathroom (shower), hairdryer, living area with TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi, DVD player on request, dining area, fully equipped kitchenette (electric oven and hobs, microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee machine and kettle) and private porch. Each unit faces the oak forest and hydrangea plantation.
Japanese Cedar Villa - Eight 1-bedroom apartments (sleeps 2+2)
One bedroom apartments (70 sqm) with air-conditioning/heating, double or twin bedroom with French windows (young children need to be supervised), bathroom (bath and shower), hairdryer, living-dining room with TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi, fireplace and kitchenette (fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, kettle and two electric hobs) which opens onto a covered deck terrace. Four 1-bedroom apartments have a foldaway double bed (suitable for 2 adults or children).
Chestnut House - One 2-bedroom apartment (sleeps 4+2)
This 2-bedroom apartment (120 sqm) is more like a traditional house (not wooden clad) with air-conditioning/heating, two bedrooms (one double and one twin), two bathrooms (one with bath and shower, the other with shower - the shower room, on the ground floor, has been adapted for those in wheelchairs), hairdryer, complimentary WiFi, fully equipped kitchenette (full electric oven, 4 electric hobs, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and toaster) and a private garden. The unit will take extra beds for 2 adults or children.
