Flatheim

Flatheim is a small farm hotel in Viksdalen, midway on the National Tourist Route above Gaularfjellet.

Here you can find peace, lower your resting pulse, and get close to nature and spend the night in historic buildings with plenty of character and charm.

There is a range of accommodation including the main house which has two double bedrooms and a studio apartment. The Storehuset which is a listed building dating from 1570 and was reassembled at Flatheim. This has two family rooms, each with four beds. Or guests can stay in the Lemmen which is ia one bedroom apartment in the Annex. All rooms have a name and a number, and they all have a story to tell! All rooms have access to kitchen facilities, but there is also the opportunity to order a 3-course dinner for guests staying at Flatheim.

Around the yard, there is a cosy garden with flowers and vegetables with plenty of areas to sit down and relax. The nostalgic and charming petrol station kiosk from the 1960s has also been well looked after. During the summer there is a cafe in the yard. Here you can buy coffee, refreshments, lunch, cakes, and pastries. There is also a small farm shop selling gifts, sheep furs and books.

The proximity to the protected Gaularvassdraget, which flows nearby, provides opportunities for both swimming, fishing and hiking along the picturesque mountain lakes and waterfalls. Fossestien, which is a hiking path along the river, offers hikes that are suitable for all levels of fitness. By the river, there are areas where you can rest and barbecue. 

You can rent a boat, canoe, stand up paddle-board, and electric bicycle. Flatheim has a wooden fired hot tub and sauna that can be booked in advance. A stay here is the perfect starting point for excursions both to the stunning fjords and the coast.

Flatheim is certified as a Norwegian Ecotourism company and their philosophy is to use local products and services and re-use buildings and fixtures sustainably as much as possible and convey local history,

Family Room in Storehuset

25 sqm. One double bed, two single beds, sitting area, refrigerator, bathroom with hairdryer, access to a shared kitchen and dining area and views to the river or mountains.
