On 12 August 2026, for the first time since 1999, there will be a total eclipse of the sun over mainland Europe. This event will be particularly dramatic in northern Spain, where it will be a breathtaking sunset eclipse and where the warmth of the summer offers a high probability of cloudless skies.
The path of totality cuts - where the moon moves between the earth and the sun, completely obscuring the sun it will pass directly across the historic region of Castilla y Leon. In Valladolid the total eclipse will be visible at 20.29 local time (one hour before sunset) and the totality will last 1 minute and 27 seconds.
We have secured exclusive packages at two of the most iconic and perfectly-positioned luxury spa hotels in the region: the beautifully restored Castilla Termal Burgo de Osma and the magnificent Castilla Termal Monasterio Valbuena. Both properties, part of the renowned Castilla Termal group, are located directly within the path of totality for the 2026 eclipse, offering you a prime viewing spot for this historic event.
Our three-night bed and breakfast stays, with departures from London Gatwick to Madrid (other airports on request) on the 11th August 2026 include car hire and also some local experiences.
