Huuva Hideaway is a family-run sanctuary in Liehittäjä, located in the heart of Sápmi and Swedish Lapland. Here, you are invited you to explore Sámi culture through immersive experiences that reflect your hosts' way of life – grounded in tradition, respect for nature, and sustainability.
Guests can visit from December to March and June to September, offering everything from day visits to extended stays in the cosy Ájtta Lodge. The lodge is a refurbished two-storey log house blending Sámi tradition with modern Scandinavian comfort. Upstairs you'll find a studio room with one double bed and one single bed, plus a separate single room. Downstairs, there’s an extra wide single bed, perfect for a child or extra guest. The lodge includes a kitchenette with kettle, fridge, glasses, and cutlery for simple meals. You’ll have a private compostable bio toilet, an electric sauna, a shower, and your own outdoor jacuzzi on the veranda.

Summer (June to September)
Taste & Tales of Sápmi
Join Pia and Henry on a guided walk through the forest where you will taste what the wild offers: handcrafted mocktails, forest snacks, and a 3-course meal made from local ingredients. Listen to stories of Sámi culture, food heritage, and nature’s rhythms come alive — creating an experience for all senses. Surrounded by forest, fire and the sounds of summer, this experience offers a peaceful and memorable moment in the heart of Sápmi.

Make, Bake & Taste
This is a hands-on Sámi food and culture experience that engages all the senses. Over the course of a relaxed half-day, guests take part in traditional baking, simple food preparartion and tasting in a natural and social outdoor setting. The experience unfolds around the open fire in an authentic old reindeer corral, where the scent of firewood and freshly baked bread fills the air. Alongside cooking and sharing food, guests are invited to a creative hands-on moment rooted in Sámi everyday traditions. Using simple tools and natural materials, they carve their own wooden butter knife.

Winter (December to March)
A Taste of Sámi Culture
A short and meaningful introduction to Sámi culture, hosted in a traditional log house at Huuva Hideaway. Gusets are welcomed outdoors by the fire before being invited inside in a warm and intimate setting. As the crackling fire fills the room and gentle Sámi songs and music set the atmosphere, guests enjoy homemade warm berry glogg, along with curated Sámi tasting bites featuring local reindeer. Throughout the experience, your Sámi hosts share stories about traditions, art and everyday life and the Arctic seasons.

Winter Fairytales of Sápmi
Go deeper into Sámi culture and spend a relaxing time engaging all your senses. Gather around the table beside the crackling fire as you enjoy a three-course meal inspired by Sámi cuisine, prepared with local Arctic ingredients. This is a genuine gathering in a family home atmosphere. Step inside a traditional log house softly lit by candles and firelight, decorated with Sámi details and seasonal touches. With your Sámi hosts, explore authentic arts and crafts and listen to Sámi songs. With a bit of luck, the Northern Lights may appear above the treetops adding a magical finish to your visit.
