For the last 27 years, each November, on the shores of the frozen River Torne, an awe-inspiring structure has unfolded. This is the site of the world-famous ICEHOTEL, a structure made wholly from ice and snow that cannot fail to impress and mesmerise its guests and visitors. Whilst the property now offers year-round accommodation in the form of its accommodation concept - the ICEHOTEL 365, we cannot wait for the opening of the 28th ICEHOTEL and to see the grand entrance halls, glistening ice sculpted chandeliers, individual artistic pieces and the spectacular Art Suites. Every year our breath is taken away by the skill and attention to detail displayed. We have no doubt that a stay at the entrancing ICEHOTEL and unique ICEHOTEL 365 this winter will, yet again, provide a holiday experience that will remain with you for eternity.

Of course, we cannot guarantee a sighting with a natural phenomenon such as the Aurora Borealis but we have a few tips to help you increase your chances of a sighting.

  • Leave the artifical lights of the city behind.
  • Choose excursions which offer the opportunity to 'chase' or 'search' for the Northern Lights. These tend to have a higher success rating.
  • Travel at the time of the new moon when the sky is at its darkest.
  • Stay as long as you can. Four nights or longer is ideal.
  • But, above all we would recommend that you book a tour that includes an activity, or a visit to a region of spectacular natural beauty, so that you have a wonderful evening regardless of a sighting.

New moon dates 2017/18:

  • 20 September 2017
  • 19 October 2017
  • 18 November 2017
  • 18 December 2017
  • 17 January 2018
  • 15 February 2018
  • 17 March 2018
  • 16 April 2018
