The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is a festival which is held every year before Lent (either February or March). It is the largest and most colourful carnival on the planet and is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and spectacle. Nothing can describe the atmosphere and exhilaration you get from actually being there. Two million people per day throng the streets.
