Do you want to read about something out of the ordinary and specialist? Yes? Then go ahead and read all about Sunvil’s featured ICEHOTEL - founded nearly 30 years ago in 1989 by Yngve Bergqvist.
Why is it so unique? The founder, together with the ICEHOTEL’s Senior Advisor Arne Bergh came up with the concept of creating a sustainable and permanent year-round hotel of ice and snow, running on solar energy as well as water from Sweden’s River Torne.
Besides it being a truly unique concept and hotel, The ICEHOTEL is also an art exhibition, with ever-changing suites designed by well-regarded artists from around the world. This year’s art suites (opening December 14, 2018) have been designed by 33 selected artists from 13 different countries.
These 15 NEW suites have been heavily influenced by nature and the environment. Reflecting issues such as climate change and overfishing of our oceans. Other concepts include eternal life in the ‘Haven’ suite and into the woods with Christopher Pancoe and Jennie O’Keefe’s ‘Spruce the Woods’ suite.
A building team, the ice production, art support and a lighting team work together with talented artists to create a truly special and immersive experience, anticipated widely by thousands of people. Luckily, Sunvil is more than happy to give you a sneak peak!
