Behind the doors of the ICEHOTEL 34
Calling all art lovers and adventurers! In the village of Jukkasjarvi, 200km north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, lies a unique hotel unlike any other: the world famous and original ICEHOTEL.
Every year on the shores of the River Torne a remarkable transformation takes place, and from December to April visitors are invited to discover a temporary art gallery carved entirely from ice and snow. Step beyond the foyer and discover the 34th ICEHOTEL with Sunvil.
Introducing the ICEHOTEL 34:
On December 15th 2023 the doors to ICEHOTEL 34 were opened. This year’s rendition of the hotel was created by 32 artists from 14 different countries all over the world - Sweden, Poland, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, France, Singapore, Belgium, Slovakia, and the UK, together with the hotel’s construction team and Luca Roncoroni, Creative Director at ICEHOTEL.
The magic of ICEHOTEL 34 is a result of a six-week whirlwind of creativity and dedication. Some 500 tonnes of ice and 10 Olympic swimming pools of "snis" (a special ice and snow mix) were used to create this ephemeral work of art. There are 15 art suites, a main hall, and a ceremony hall which forms the hotel's heart. Each building block, harvested from the neighbouring Torne River will return to the nature, from which it came, in the spring.
While ICEHOTEL 34 may melt away with the spring thaw, the artistic spirit lives on in ICEHOTEL 365. This permanent structure offers year-round icy adventures, with luxurious art and deluxe suites, a chilling ice bar, and even a movie theatre carved from the frozen depths.
