Cyprus, being situated at the crossroad of three continents; Southern European, MIddle Eastern and Central Asian offers a cuisine influenced by this heady mix. Local taverns are eagerly waiting to welcome you, to share their local dishes based on traditional family recipes tried and tested over many years! For a true Cyprus dining experience, try a meze! A Meze meal consists of small plates of upto 30 dishes made up of small plates of tasty dips, savoury treats, vegetables, fish and meat dishes. And it would be a shame not to visit at least one of the forty one wineries on the island!

For our nature lovers, we can offer 1,750 species of plants, 126 being endemic. In the Akamas Peninsula alone we have approximately 530 species, of which 33 are endemic. With approximately 1,800 species and subspecies of flowering plants, the island is a botanist’s paradise!

Wildlife

We also offer an impressive variety of fauna: 168 bird species, 12 mammals, 20 reptiles and at least 16 species of butterfly. Our largest wild animal, still living in the island’s mountains, is the Cyprus mouflon, a rare type of wild sheep. Millions of birds use Cyprus as a stepping stone during their migration from Europe to Africa and back.

Hire a car and visit some of the prettiest villages and soak up the ambience and enjoy the moment. Much of the charm of the island is in its’ laid back vibe’! Noel is Sunvil’s Chairman. Born in Cyprus in 1948, he joined John der Parthog at Sunvil in 1973. Before that and following university, he spent 3 years as a trainee buyer at C&A Modes and then worked for a large Cypriot builder and property developer for whom he set up a London Office buying electrical components for the Middle East and importing lemons from orchards in Cyprus. He still researches new destinations for Sunvil and is heavily involved in matters relating to the travel industry. He is a previous chairman of ABTA, a long standing director and previous chairman of The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) and former chairman of The Travel Foundation - the travel industry’s sustainability charity.
