Axiothea Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus Axiothea Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus

Cyprus is an island with a rich history, stunning landscapes, spectacular coastlines and welcoming locals - none more so than the friendly staff at the delightful family-run Axiothea Hotel in Paphos.

The twin-bedded rooms (double rooms are available on request), offer inland views as well as rooms with superb panoramic sea views over the Mediterranean and down town Paphos. The traditional, family-run Axiothea Hotel is centrally located in the Old Town of Paphos set on a hillside. Originally the family home until 1974, it was converted into a hotel and now boasts 37 comfortable and stylish rooms.

This very friendly, family-run hotel is a Sunvil favourite with many of our guests returning each year who experience a warm Cypriot welcome and great, personal service. All the rooms have air conditioning, bathrooms with bath and shower (some with shower only), telephone, LCD television and complimentary high speed WIFI. Hairdryer, kettle iron and ironing board (for self catering use) are available on request and free of charge. Private parking available on site, as well as adjacent public parking, both available to use free of charge. Enjoy a rich buffet breakfast with locally sourced produce and home made delicacies. Gastronomic options include a nearby lounge cafe/bar, the Muse Cafe Kitchen Bar with a wide variety of dishes and cocktails.

Unless you're looking to use the Axiothea Hotel as a base for your holiday to explore the island, there is no need to hire a car as there is a great selection of restaurants, tavernas, coffee shops, unique shops, the municipal market and gardens, all within easy walking distance of the hotel.

There is a regular bus service to and from the hotel to lower Paphos and the sea. If you want to travel further afield and don't wish to hire a car, you can take the intercity bus which has a regular service to the other districts such as Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia.

During the lockdown the hotel has had an extensive makeover with interiors and exteriors being redecorated, improved storage in the guest rooms and bathrooms, improved car parking facilities, plus a host of many other extra improvements. In line with the local government Covid-19 protocol regulations, the hotel have been busy with a total, deep clean of all areas of the hotel, installing hand sanitisers and 2m distancing notices throughout as well as full servicing of the air conditioning system.

All staff now wear gloves and masks and all safety measures are applied in all areas of the hotel and they are now looking forward to welcoming guests with 'socially distanced' open arms very soon.

Paphos - the kingdom of Aphrodite

This south-west corner of Cyprus has an ambience all of its own: soft breezes, old stone, elusive enchantment and an air of antiquity. This is the kingdom of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and her presence seems to linger. Paphos itself is really two towns, each with its own character; Ktima on the cliff and Kato Paphos by the sea, two  kilometres down the road. The one is unchanged over centuries and thoroughly Cypriot while the other has expanded over the last twenty years from a sleepy fishing village and harbour into a bustling, busy, sprawling cosmopolitan resort which is still growing and is the centre for the island’s overseas property boom. Roman Paphos was the island’s capital, and the 3rd century mosaics here are the finest in the Mediterranean.

An island of contrasts and for all seasons

Cyprus is an exciting blend of the old and the new from the ancient burial grounds of the Tomb of the Kings to the natural beauty of its coastline and superb beaches. Discover archaeological treasures and Roman mosaics in Paphos, before eating delicious mezze and freshly-caught seafood in charming Pissouri. Explore the urban centre of Limassol, wander down bustling shopping streets full of trendy bars and chic cafés. For nature lovers, trek into the majestic Troodos Mountains with wooded landscapes, waterfalls, picturesque villages and monasteries, or dive into the aqua blue sea to scuba dive in the world-famous wrecks off the coast of Polis.
