New islands, properties and itineraries included in the new brochure

Our new brochure illustrates unequivocally our profound love for the country. It contains so much information and inspiration, emphasises the diversity and staggering beauty of the country, and looks at some of the many reasons why Greece brings so many people back year upon year. The brochure is, quite simply, something that any Grecophile will want on their coffee table, awaiting exploration...

It would be impossible, of course, to feature our entire programme in one publication. Rather, the new brochure serves as a window to its offerings – a glimpse of its broad range, its unparalleled insight into all things Greece, and its responsible ethos - with further holidays, properties, and itineraries online. Whether you seek an active holiday or plain and simple relaxation, to run 90m barefoot, as they did in ancient history, in the Modern Nemean Games this June or to enjoy the food and wine delights of many regions of Greece, to stay put in one location for your holiday or to tour around several regions, to island hop, to explore the endless coastline or to climb mountains or to walk – Sunvil will tailor-make the perfect trip for you.

Below are the new islands, properties and itineraries in our new Greece brochure.

Island of Kea in the Cyclades

Though it’s the closest Cycladic Island to Athens, only an hour’s ferry ride from the Attica mainland, Kea (also known as Tzia) is surprisingly unknown, and it has long been a preserve of the well-heeled Athenian crowd, keen to keep the secret to themselves. Kea has a very long and distinguished history as evidenced by the Neolithic settlement of Kephala, dating back to 4500 BC. The archaeological site of Karthea is proof of Kea's importance in classical times; it even produced its own coinage. Like most Cycladic islands, Kea boasts glorious sandy beaches around its 85 km coastline. Inland Kea will richly reward walkers and nature lovers, especially during springtime and early season when the island is green and carpeted with wildflowers on its upper reaches (Kea’s highest point is 560m). A well-preserved network of ancient footpaths lead you through beautiful countryside, up hills, and down valleys to secluded beaches, ancient monuments, and isolated chapels.

New apartments on the Ionian island of Ithaca

The pretty coastal village of Kioni has several family-run tavernas and small shops which line the harbour. The horseshoe bay itself, backed by wooded hills, features three or four white-pebble beaches and a number of neoclassical mansions. Directly on the waterfront, the six Kioni Apartments are light, comfortable, and air-conditioned. Each property features French doors opening onto a private, sea-facing balcony, where you can relax and observe the yacht and fishing boat action. A daily maid service is included.

New luxury apartment on Skopelos, one of the Sporades Islands

In a secluded position, tucked away between Skopelos Town and the beach, three-bedroom Glifoneri is something really special. Originally a small house, this stylish property is completely self-contained. Spread across two floors, the apartment has a large, air-conditioned living room, a well-equipped fitted kitchen, and three terraces (one is huge and boasts stunning sea views across to Alonissos). The nearest taverna is just a minute's walk away.

New villas on the North Aegean island of Samos

The Eleonas Villas, comfortably furnished stone houses set on a serene wooded hillside above Votsalakia, feature private pools and gardens, fully-equipped kitchens, spacious living rooms, two or three air-conditioned bedrooms each, and stunning sea views. Car hire is strongly recommended in order to explore Samos' villages, heavenly beaches, and historic landmarks.

New apartments near Chania on the island of Crete

For a satisfying blend of beach time and bright lights, seriously consider the friendly Flamingos Hotel Apartments in Agii Apostoli. Here, you have three beautifully sandy bays within very easy walking distance, plus the atmospheric Venetian city of Chania just a 15-minute bus ride away (via a very frequent service). The apartments are houses in low-rise buildings, set in gardens. The swimming pool has a children’s section, and the pool bar serves drinks, ice creams and toasted sandwiches during the day. Breakfast can also be requested (payable locally).

New houses in the traditional hamlet of Macheri on Crete

If you wish to find the true essence of Crete - that of an older, more timeless island - then a stay at the exceptional Kamares Houses can’t be ignored. Located in the traditional hamlet of Macheri, a 40-minute drive from Chania, the surroundings and views are splendid, with the rolling green hills of the beautiful Apokoronas region leading down to the sea and the White Mountains as an imposing backdrop. The properties share a stunning swimming pool. There is also a common seating area, shaded by vines, where a wonderful breakfast can be ordered daily (€10 in 2024) - including homemade jams, organic fruit and vegetables from the garden, local eggs, honey, yogurt, and cheese. And once or twice a week a traditional Cretan dinner can be booked.

Island hopping in the Saronic Islands

The three Saronic Islands of Poros, Spetses and Hydra were some of the first islands featured by Sunvil, almost 50 years ago. Being close to Athens they are not new to tourism; they have long been weekend retreats for wealthy Athenians. However, this does not detract in any way - in many ways, it enhances their appeal. These are sophisticated islands, each offering a unique blend of cultural richness, historical intrigue, and natural beauty. A sample ten-night itinerary costs from £1,768 pp (two sharing), including return flights to Athens, accommodation with breakfast, plus transfers and ferry tickets throughout.

Island hopping in the northern Cyclades

Verdant landscapes, historic monasteries, windmills, neoclassical mansions and pretty villages galore can be found on Andros, Tinos and Syros, yet all have, remarkably, retained a low key tourism offering and an authentic Greek atmosphere. A trip to the northern Cyclades will likely both confirm and challenge your expectations of the 'scattered islands'. A sample ten-night itinerary costs from £1,630 pp (two sharing), including return flights (outbound to Athens, inbound from Mykonos), accommodation with breakfast, plus transfers and ferry tickets throughout.

Andros, Cyclades Andros, Cyclades

Island hopping in the North Aegean

Immerse yourself in Greece's fabled history, as well as while away the hours on beautiful sun-kissed beaches, travelling to Chios, Lesvos and Samos. Highlights include the medieval villages of Chios, the petrified forest on Lesvos, the ancient Temple of Hera and the Eupalinos Tunnel on Samos, both dating from the 6th century BC. But the real delight is in the diversity of landscapes, age-old traditions, local culinary delights, and spending time with those who call the islands their home. A sample 14-night itinerary costs from £2,340 pp (two sharing), including return flights to Athens, accommodation with breakfast, transfers throughout, plus domestic flights or ferry between islands.

Island hopping in the Dodecanese

The combination of Rhodes, Halki and Tilos makes a wonderful island-hopping holiday in the Dodecanese. You can spend your days exploring the bustling city of Rhodes Town, swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Lindos, or hiking in the mountains of Filerimos. On Halki, you'll be forced to relax; it’s a beautifully guilt-free holiday destination. Then, on Tilos, enjoy the island's beautiful beaches, the turquoise waters of Mikros Yialos, and the island's ancient ruins. A sample 14-night itinerary costs from £1,448 pp (two sharing), including return flights to Rhodes, accommodation with breakfast, plus transfers and ferry tickets throughout.

Fly-Drive Highlights of Central Greece

Central Greece is a heady mix of mountains and plains spreading from the Ionian Sea in the west to the Aegean in the east, via the mighty peaks of the Pindus. Explore Delphi (once believed to be the centre of the world), the small seaside villages of Pelion, the national park of Zagoria, and so much more. A sample 14-night itinerary costs from £1,589 pp (two sharing), including return flights to Preveza, accommodation with breakfast, transfer on arrival, and 14 days’ car hire.

Gulet cruises and tall ship sailing

Sunvil has two new sailing partnerships:

GULETS - small group or private holidays aboard wooden schooners small enough to lay anchor in bays inaccessible by larger boat. You’ll glide gracefully between sun-drenched islands, each night resting in a different port. Seven-night itineraries from Corfu or Zakynthos cost from £1,363 pp (two sharing), including accommodation onboard in air-conditioned en suite cabins, daily breakfast and lunch buffet, one captain’s dinner, and the use of SUPs, kayaks and snorkelling equipment.

STAR CLIPPERS – fully-crewed tall ships, offering the romance and adventure of travelling under sail. Although grand in appearance, the atmosphere aboard these vessels is relaxed and informal. Guests can join the captain at the helm, relax by the pool, or simply follow the rise and fall of the blue horizon. Seven-night itineraries in the Northern or Southern Cyclades, or in the Sporades, cost from £2,600 pp (two sharing), including return flights to Athens, cabin accommodation, and full board.

City Breaks

Greece’s cities brim with heritage and culture and, unlike seasonal destinations, welcome travellers year-round. Athens speaks for itself, perhaps – the allure of the iconic Acropolis Parthenon, museums and markets, atmospheric streets, and culinary pleasures. But consider, too, Greece’s second city, the foodie paradise of Thessaloniki; Chania in Crete; Corfu Town and Rhodes Town, and indeed Kalamata, surrounded by both mountains, historic sites and the sea. Plus, with excellent transportation connections, it’s easy to combine a city break with an island or a mainland retreat.

Thessaloniki, Greece Thessaloniki, Greece

Two countries in one holiday

To have time in beloved Greece and experience an entirely different country is a highly desirable proposition.

ALBANIA – is very easy to reach via Corfu in as little as 30 minutes by ferry, and no visa is required for UK passport holders. In the south of Albania, Saranda is a bustling town set in a beautiful horse-shoe bay with pebble beaches and easy access to two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Ancient Butrint and the Blue Eye spring.

CYPRUS – many flights connect Cyprus with the Greek islands. Sunvil has been organising holidays to Cyprus since 1970, when the company was born, and where its roots lie. Whether you’d like to visit the Troodos Mountains, Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos or the Akamas National Park, you’ll be impressed by the options, from unknown hideaways to five-star fabulous accommodation, and from fly-drive adventures to purely sunbathing and swimming breaks.

Do you dream all year of Greece, longing for that glorious May to October stretch when, once again, you feel the rush and relief of all that is familiar? That blue and white bliss; the heavenly heat; the insistent but soothing cricket chorus; a language you might not know but love, regardless; a glistening sea that welcomes you back in as if you had never left; the taste of real tomatoes, freshly-caught fish, and spanakopita; swinging your feet off the edge of a kaiki; evenings brought alive by Zorba and Ouzo and laughter…
