There is nothing more satisfying and heart-warming than to receive complementary feedback from our guests on their return from holiday. Nadine recently returned from a stay on the island of Ikaria and has shared her thoughts and highlights, along with some great photographs, with us.
I just had to write to say, what a fabulous holiday I experienced travelling with you to Ikaria on the 4th of July this year. Absolutely everything, from the booking (organised so helpfully and efficiently by Jordan in your Greece team) to accommodation and transfers were outstanding . So thoughtful, clearly and carefully arranged, that I wanted to express this and my thanks personally to you and to all your amazing staff.
Muses Cottages, and the whole area around Nas was so peaceful, special and incredibly relaxing (and my goodness such stunning sunsets. I could never tire of these). The cottages themselves were airy and comfortable with lovely gardens, and private sun terraces. The owner Anna, couldn’t have been more welcoming, helpful and accommodating, and the home cooked food at her taverna was simply delicious.
I would also like to mention the tour agent you use at Armenistis, 'Dolihi Tours', and in particular the agent Urania Mytika , and her super calm, patient and expertly safe driving husband (especially on all the high and winding roads of Ikaria).
I took two trips with them, one around the island and another on a wine tasting tour; taking in the ancient artisan processes (now revived by the truly special vineyard of Afianes wines) and tasting the wine in the most magical setting, amongst the vines. This was followed by an evening at Christos Raches, the town in the hills which never sleeps and comes to vibrant life at night.
These were probably the best tours I have every experienced anywhere. Small and tailored, they were a perfect balance of beautiful scenery, ancient sights, nature, and an introduction to the island and the uniqueness of the people who live there. Urania was superb providing fascinating, personal, historical, folklore, artistic information and knowledge of the area. We were taken to some of the most secluded sleepy villages, drank coffee with the locals, tasted local delicacies (which Rania had ordered ahead for us at no extra cost). We also hlked amongst the herb scented forests, swam in Thermal hot spring caves and visited the most tranquil and unusual monastery on an idyllic and verdant hillside setting ,with such an awe inspiring view of the sun setting over the valley below .
All filled with Urania's vibrant humour, utterly engaging storytelling and true love for the island she was born on. Set to a soundtrack of uniquely picked and unusual Classical Greek songs playing in the minibus, which only added to the beauty and the theatre of it all.
I don’t know how they have the energy to give and provide so much on their tours, but I cannot recommend them enough to other visitors with Sunvil. They really help you to get to know and understand the spirit of this most unusual yet blissful island. Truly memorable.
Also a special mention for the flights and transfers to and from Ikaria which were fantastically thought out and really became an extension of the holiday. Enter air were great and very comfortable.
The overnight stay and boat transfer from Samos the next day, was a gentle and refreshing way to arrive. And all the transfers to and from the accommodation were perfect . Not to mention the small plane flight to Lemnos, and to my absolute surprise and delight, a subsequent pick up from the airport to the beautiful location of Kotsinas to take a relaxed lunch, and even have time to be able to look at the elegant chapel of Zoodochos Pigi. What a treat, and it was a perfect end to what has been a glorious holiday and a tantalising glimpse of another very different island in Lemnos, rather than a long dry wait at an airport - so thoughtful Sunvil and completely appreciated!!
Thank you to you and your company, and all of your staff (who are a real credit to you) for your care and attention to detail, unique locations, exceptional planning, and communication, from start to finish. Which make for a such personal wonderfully memorable holiday. I cannot thank you enough!
