We were met by Pauline our Sunvil representative and were transferred by taxi (wearing our masks) on to Finikounda . Our self catering apartment at the Estia Hotel, overlooks another complex and it is all very quiet. The pretty town and beach area are quite busy, but there is plenty of space and will be more tomorrow when the Greek children go back to school.
All the tavernas are open with tables placed within a safe distance of each other and there are bottles of hand sanitiser available. The friendly waiters are wearing masks but fortunately we don’t need to, only in the shops. The food was good as you would expect in Greece and we had the option to pay either by cash or card.
It was great to have a catch up with Pauline who had plenty of advice of where to go and what to do, unfortunately there are no tours on offer but we did take a boat trip round the islands with another couple on a local fishing boat to enjoy the wonderful scenery up towards Methoni, all very safe. We enjoyed Finikounda very much, being a local fishing village with good tavernas and shops, lovely food and a grateful welcome from the locals.
