It does exist! An unspoiled island with a Greek flavour, very few tourists, excellent sandy beaches, a characterful port, and a direct flight. It is no wonder why Lemnos holds a special place in Peter and Anant’s hearts; “everyone has a favourite Greek island and ours is Lemnos”.
However, Peter and Anant were understandably apprehensive about returning to Greece. After speaking to our resort representative, Annette, they decided that the measures put in place by Sunvil, and the reassurance from Annette, were enough to warrant a much-needed break! They flew out on 23rd July 2020 for a two week holiday and have been kind enough to contact us to report back on their experiences.
During a friendly correspondence, Peter touches on the journey from London to Lemnos, describing a feeling of safety and simplicity. He talks of his wife, Anant, being tested at the airport on arrival, by a kind Doctor, who made the procedure quick and painless. Peter then remarks “enough of that, as it is not why we are here” before going on to mention the wonderful 14-night trip, which he and his wife enjoyed. “From the moment we arrived, and your kind personal welcome, we have had a wonderful time”.
Peter and Anant stayed at Villa Aphrodite and were full of praise of its owners, stating; “they treat us and their guests as family and nothing is too much for them”. He then mentions quaint tavernas such as Mantellas and Sinialo, where the people are safe andconscientious, and the food wonderful. Before recounting Lemnos’ sandy beaches as ‘not so busy but the blue sky and Lemnian seas enchanting’ - the weather a warm 32 degrees with a gentle breeze.
On return, Peter says, “when we get back, we will tell friends about our time here and about the archaeology and the beauty of the island. An island that has fertile areas where wine is produced through to dramatic stark landscapes, and the unique cave church and the only desert in Europe! We come here for all those things and our favourite are the evenings on the seafront in Myrina with a little drink watching the sunset over Mount Athos. We come here for the famed friendly people. They say you cry when you come to Lemnos as it looks barren as you land but you are sure to cry when you have to leave!!”
