On Monday 27 April we launched a new series of blogs called 'Ask the experts', with the desire to share our passion and destination knowledge with you, our much-valued guests and readers. Today we have been challenged to find a holiday for two couples wishing to celebrate their 60th birthdays in Greece.

The Sunvil team have been contacted by Mrs Emilia Lyne who is looking to arrange a holiday to Greece with her best friend and their respective partners. As well as wishing to return to Paxos, an island which she holds dear, she is looking for two adjacent apartments close to the beach and ideally with a shared swimming pool.

The island of Paxos has a magical appeal that cannot not fail to enrapture. At just seven miles long and three miles wide, the thickly-wooded isle has retained a laid-back vibe reminiscent of yesteryear, where there is no schedule, no hurry and no pressure. For locals and visitors alike, the island calls for you to make your own itinerary: gentle strolls through the olive groves, snorkelling from the white pebbled coves, exploring the maze of narrow cobbled streets of Paxos's three main settlements, and taking time to enjoy an aperitif as the sun sets over the Ionian blue.
Some of our favourite things to do on Paxos include:
Hiring a boat and exploring the coastline
Taking a day excursion to the neighbouring island of AntiPaxos with its paradisiacal beaches
Sitting on the harbourfront watching island life unfold before our eyes
Watching the sunset at Erimitis
Exploring the ancient walled pathways and rural trails on foot, and discovering hidden coves
Of our properties on Paxos, Dudley has suggested the Theodora Apartments in Gaios and the Livadi Studios in Lakka. Both properties are a collection of apartments, five and eight units respectively, with a shared swimming pool. Beaches are within 15 minutes' walk as are a choice of tavernas and cafe-bars. A previous guest at the Livadi Studios commented: "Wonderful studios. Set in a well-maintained and authentic Greek garden. It was very, very well looked after - Mira was always around tidying up and being friendly. The pool area was peaceful and fab."

Having been at university and unsure as to what to do following some temporary jobs, Dudley joined the family firm as a brochure packer in 1979. In those days distribution was from the office premises and Sunvil was just beginning to grow again, following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the company’s major destination, in 1974. He was then made responsible for travel agency sales. In due course he took over the running and brochure writing for the Sunvil Greece programme and the contracting of accommodation. He is now a director of the company and is the most knowledgeable and experienced member of the Greek team. He mixes work in administering the programme with taking reservations and he particularly enjoys tackling complicated and well nigh impossible itineraries.
