June marks the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, offering ideal weather for various types of holidays, from sun-drenched island escapes to vibrant city breaks and cultural experiences. This time of year boasts long daylight hours and pleasant temperatures across many European destinations, making it perfect for exploring.

Lefkas is connected to the mainland by a causeway, making it easily accessible. It is famous for its spectacular western coastline, home to some of Greece's most photographed beaches. The island offers excellent windsurfing and kitesurfing opportunities, particularly in Vassiliki and Nidri. The main town, Lefkas Town, provides a pleasant atmosphere with charming pedestrian streets and a marina. Just a short ferry ride from Lefkas, Meganissi is smaller, quieter, and offers a more tranquil escape. Its name means "big island," though it is relatively small. The island features picturesque harbours like Vathy and Spartochori, known for their traditional tavernas and relaxed pace of life. It’s an ideal spot for sailing, exploring hidden coves, and enjoying unspoiled nature.

The journey typically involves taking the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris, followed by a high-speed TGV train from Paris to Girona. Girona, the capital of its province in Catalonia, offers a rich history, medieval architecture, and a buzzing culinary scene. It is often less crowded than Barcelona but provides similar Catalan charm, including its impressive cathedral and the colourful houses lining the Onyar River.

For a dose of high culture, Verona in Italy hosts the annual Arena di Verona Opera Festival, which typically starts in June. The festival takes place in the magnificent Roman amphitheatre, the Arena di Verona, providing an unparalleled, atmospheric setting for world-class opera performances.

Croatia offers a spectacular coastline and historic cities. Our twin-centre holiday combining the iconic city of Dubrovnik with the laid-back island of Korčula is ideal for a June break.

Known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic," Dubrovnik's ancient city walls, marble streets, and Baroque buildings are breathtaking. June offers pleasant weather for walking the city walls and exploring the historic Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A short ferry ride away, the island of Korčula offers a slower pace. Korčula Town is a beautiful medieval walled town often nicknamed "Little Dubrovnik." The island is known for its dense forests, vineyards producing excellent local wines (such as Grk and Pošip), and pristine swimming spots. It provides a perfect contrast to the bustling city life of Dubrovnik.
